have about 3 different names
i always get confused

cant tell who is who
because im dislexic and don't make sounds for the names
but rodya is for short
and
his sister is called dunya
isn't dunya a butiful name?
if little huddie had been born a girl
we would of named her
Dunya

over sea
and sky
every second impossible showers of

turning to terrible hues of purple

last week I attended the opening of a lovely exhibition in Helsinki (more about that later) during the dinner afterwards in good company of some Fins and Icelanders I was informed about this poem by Billy Childish referencing 'Me'. 

I felt it was very appropriate to publish it here.

Need I really say more about Norwegian Wood, 

and no, not talking about the Beatles song but about the novel by one of my all-time favorite novelists Haruki Murakami and its 2010 feature film adaptation by Tran Anh Hung. Central in Murakami's most read novel are themes of nostalgia, loss, memory and sexuality. This novel unlike most of his other works does not have that surreal touch to it but equally touches on subjects of society & human freedom. There are only few of his books that I have not read yet but I am saving these for times of need.

About the film; 

The film is open, so much is not said but everything the book contains is conveyed in one way are another. The exact point the book brings across is displayed perfectly in the emptiness of the film. Wonderful casting, set design, cinematography, and not to forget about the musical imputes by Johnny Greenwood and the mesmerizing backdrops of the Japanese landscapes. If there is only one book you will ever read by Murakami start with this one, but also make sure to see the film. 

The book makes a great present too.

The obsession is growing on me a whole lot. But hey, the hunger can be 'stilled' slightly on thursday when the next issue of Dazed & Confused hits the magazine stores

Where They Create

Where They Create is not 'just a book'.
As is claimed in the PR text, and even though this is not the only book published of Studio interiors by friends, designers and artists, the Where They Create book by  Paul Barbera is an extensive, very exstensive document. It shows you places you could have never visited yourself. The inspiring photographs where already published on his blog: Where They Create and in the book which is available for pre-order via Frame (released in july 2011) The (I am sure of) Inspiring book will also contain images of the Opening Ceremony Studio's and Julie Verhoeven

Nordic Bakery Cookbook

And the book (which I wrote about here before) arrived, I must say it looks as amazing as the Cafe itself. Amazing photographs by Peter Cassidy and Lizzie Harris, beautiful printing on nice paper. Graphic design by Jaakko Tuomivaara.

I look forward to getting my hands into the dough soon and indulge in this Nordic sweetness.

New item in VK Magazine, weekly with the saturday edition of dutch newspaper de Volkskrant.

Another good collaboration of stylist Tatjana Quax (Studio Aandacht) and photographer Inga Powilleit.

Dutch creatives seem to be the focal point of this series. Included as yet are Ellen Truijen a designer of super nice leather bags and Margreet Olsthoorn, owner at Margreet Olsthoorn & MGH2O.

The publication focuses on the area where photographers, architects, graphic and fashion designers meet.
