Scholten en Baijings - Blush - photo's of the exhibition

I already wrote about it and very much looked forward to it and then this weekend I went to Blush at Stedelijk Museum Den Bosch, by Scholten & Baijings and was given an interesting tour by Curator Fredric Baas.
The exhibition is set up in 4 themes in a cross-grid. It is not a very big show, but definitely worthwhile if you love their clean and simple aesthetic like I do. Since the tour was informative I would suggest to take part in a museum activity when visiting the exhibition. On the 14th of May there is a Color and Interior workshop with Tatjana Quax from Studio Aandacht amongst others. Information via this email address
Stefan Scholten en Carole Baijings themselves will talk about their work on the 17th of may.

Darling Clementine : To Dry For

I have been meaning to post about Norwegian Design Darlings: Darling Clementine for a while.
Also since I started to be an avid Tea Towel fan (making not owning a dishwasher fun) I wanted to post about amazing company To Dry For for a while. Finding the right is not even so easy, until I found this online UK based company  (the couple blogs here) where they sell almost every single cool Tea Towel I had ever seen.
Also these amazing ones by Darling Clementine, known from Ferm Living's  latest collection amongst others. They design, illustrate and invent. Furthermore they claim to make good coffee and have a great time at work, sounds good to me. This is where the inspiration comes from.

One more day: Hotel Pro Forma - Sell - Out

Hotel Pro Forma is a Danish Theatre company that focuses on that what is between the art and the non-art, the theatre and the non-theatre etc. In their performances borders between genres are researched.

For Tomorrow in a Year a modern day opera depicting the world how it would have been seen through the eyes of Charles Darwin, the music was written by The Knife. And their latest piece War Sum Up has costumes designed by Henrik Vibskov. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to see any of their performaces but judging from clippings and the list of collaborators they are my kind of theatre company.
And now Hotel Pro Forma is selling out and getting rid of all their costumes, props, technicalities etc. Today is your last chance to become an owner of one of these unique pieces. Wish I were in Copenhagen once again..

Spijkers & Spijkers exhibition at MMKA

On the 6th of May the Mirror has two Faces, an overview exhibition of the work of Spijkers en Spijkers by Dutch sisters Truus en Riet Spijkers will open in the Museum of Modern Art Arnhem (NL). It not only shows clothing from all their collections from the past decade but also some behind the scene views, inspirations and such. Considering the women they elect as their muses for each collection (strong women from long gone times) the unveiling of some of these inspirations sound promising.

During the opening event on the 6th a publication written by José Teunissen & Hanka van der Voet will be presented.

Exhibition can be seen from  07.05 -  21.08.2011 and can be combined with a visit to the Arnhem Fashion Biennale a must visit if you ask me!

Mikkeler Bar / Beer and more in Copenhagen

Many love reasons for this post which I will indicate by numbers for your convenience.

1 off course the beer, no less then 20 variations on tap
2 interior designed by Femmes Regionales.
3 friends with (my beloved) Henrik Vibskov
4 located in Copenhagen's Vesterbro

Microbrewery Mikkeller was set up in 2007, and already was awarded Danish Brewery of the year twice. Mikkeller is not your typical brewery. They collaborate with some amazing partners, just to name Henrik Vibskov and Andreas Emenius with whom the edition of 1000 beers was made for the release of Vibskov / Emenius Fringe Project #2 in 2008.

And today (May 5th) sees the one year anniversary of Mikkeller Bar. The toned down, very relaxed atmosphere by Femmes Regionales (design agency by Mie Albæk Nielsen and Caroline Hansen) really subscribes to that feeling of a carefree hangout with friends while listening to some good music, eat some cheese and other snacks. To celebrate today is a 'downright beer orgy' as the Mikkeler boys themselves like to call it. First 1000 glasses of beer are free and some other specials today, no less then ten new beers will be presented to the world on this joyous day.
