A Trip to the Factory, Icelandic designers for Kahla

A presentation by students of the Forming Department of Reykjavik School of Visual Arts. A two week research trip to Germany was the start of this collaboration with porcelain factory Kahla. Of which the results will now be shown at the Design Festival Berlin
My dearest friend Guðný Rúnarsdóttir made the work called 'A Part' it refers to the old European centre pieces and will sure get the dinner conversation started. The bowls form a unity grouped together and can be taken apart when dinner is served. Inspiration is drawn from mythical elements: old animal ornaments, ice sculptures, snails, fish and the organic net structure.

Nordic Bakery Cookbook

And the book (which I wrote about here before) arrived, I must say it looks as amazing as the Cafe itself. Amazing photographs by Peter Cassidy and Lizzie Harris, beautiful printing on nice paper. Graphic design by Jaakko Tuomivaara.
I look forward to getting my hands into the dough soon and indulge in this Nordic sweetness.

It might be good to know that they will open a NY branch soon as well.

Enduring love for Screen Printing

Popularized in the 1960s by Pop artists like Andy Warhol, screen printing remains a favorite among artists due to its versatility, duplicability, and relatively low cost. InPulled: A Catalog of Screen Printing, best-selling author Mike Perry (Hand Job, Over and Over) collects the work of more than forty of today's most talented designers who are, in their own way, pushing the boundaries of this dynamic medium.

Fast Vinic in Barcelona

Barça here we come, I say this might be a good one for Tuesday after a bike tour to Montjuic. What about you, Travel Companions? As for convincing you I might add that a selection of over 20 catalan wines are available; they serve local produce; breakfast to dinner and talk about Eco Sustainability. The Sandwich : simply & honest is the heart of their trade.
